Finance (Controllership) Intern Review

Take ownership of activities such as booking accruals, allocation journals, reconciliations, commentary of, weekly cash flow, creating invoices and processing payments, as well as assisting with monthly forecasting for Free Cash Flow.
Working for Universal Pictures Content Group – you will be given the opportunity work with content that is distributed through all distribution channels. This means you will work closely with the finance team as well as all the other non-finance teams within our business. On top of this you will also liaise with employees from external companies and working with vendors to help with the AP and payment processes.

Yes, I was responsible for completing my weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks on time and sticking to deadlines and I was also responsible for communicating with our vendors professionally to help get them setup on our systems and process payments smoothly. I was also given more responsibility as time went on because I understood my tasks more and became more efficient, allowing my manager to provide me with more projects, furthering my knowledge.

Yes, my management and organisational skills have definitely improved as I've needed to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritise them accordingly, whilst also making sure I keep up to date with my emails. My communication and confidence has also improved as I've been communicating with lots of different internal and external employees throughout my placement.

I received lots of support and guidance during my internship especially from the early careers team, HR, my manager and overall finance team. They would always provide help if I needed it and extra resources if I ever needed to find anything in the future. I also received lots of support from the wider team in the content group as well.

The company culture was incredible, everyone is so inclusive and always happy to help with anything you need. There are also lots of events to help everyone network with each other which also improves communication within the teams. There are also lots of resources available at all times and you can tell this company really cares about each employee.

I've loved my internship, I've met so many amazing people and made the most of some great opportunities created by this company. I've also learnt so much in my role and been challenged, overcoming problems, my team have all been so lovely in supporting me too and I'll cherish the memories made forever.
