Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As the Lead for a specialist team of Complaints Handlers and Clinical Governance Coordinators at Rowlands Pharmacy, I am responsible for overseeing the effective management of patient concerns, clinical governance processes, and regulatory compliance across the organisation. My role combines operational leadership, quality assurance, and strategic collaboration with key healthcare partners.
On a day‑to‑day basis, I manage team workloads, monitor performance against KPIs, and provide guidance to ensure timely, accurate, and empathetic responses to patient complaints. I carry out detailed quality assurance of written correspondence, ensuring all communication meets internal standards, regulatory expectations, and reflects a high level of professionalism.
A significant part of my role involves analysing complaint trends and operational data to identify risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for service improvement. I produce reports and insights for senior leadership, supporting evidence‑based decision‑making and continuous improvement across the pharmacy network.
I work closely with NHS partners to support the operation of Outpatient Pharmacies, ensuring that services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual obligations. I also uphold key legislation and governance requirements relating to pharmaceutical practice in both outpatient and community pharmacy settings, ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of patient safety.
