Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
The role also includes placement days, where I gain hands-on experience in different environments, as well as opportunities to travel abroad to develop my own skills in snowsports. I have also supported young people on trips abroad, helping them step outside their comfort zones and grow in confidence.
Overall, the role is a mix of youth work, coaching and personal development, making every day different and rewarding.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have also developed leadership and coaching skills through delivering and supporting sessions, as well as learning how to manage groups effectively. My confidence has grown significantly, especially when leading activities and taking responsibility in different environments.
In addition, I have built teamwork skills by working alongside other staff and apprentices, and gained valuable experience in problem-solving and adapting to different situations. The programme has also helped me develop my snowsports skills and given me opportunities to learn in real-life settings, including placements and trips abroad.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
At the same time, the role remains flexible and varied, which keeps it engaging. Even though no two days are the same, there is always clear communication and planning to ensure everything runs smoothly. This balance of structure and variety makes the programme both effective and enjoyable
How much support do you receive from your employer?
There are regular check-ins and feedback, which help me improve and build confidence in my role. I am also given opportunities to take on responsibility while still having support available, which has really helped me grow both personally and professionally.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
There are regular check-ins, progress reviews and clear guidance on assignments, which helps me stay on track. The support provided makes it easier to balance both the practical and academic sides of the apprenticeship, and I feel well supported in my development.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
The learning I complete through my training provider helps me build skills such as communication, leadership and planning, which I can apply directly in my day-to-day role. Overall, it has made me more confident and effective in my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
There are also opportunities to get involved in events, networking and working with different groups of people, which helps build confidence and professional connections. The programme encourages you to get involved as much as possible, both within and outside of your day-to-day role.
Overall, these opportunities add to both personal and professional development and make the apprenticeship more enjoyable.
