Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role at Snowcamp involves supporting and coaching young people through snow sports and structured development programmes. On a day-to-day basis, I help deliver sessions on the slope, ensuring participants feel safe, included, and confident while learning new skills. I assist with setting up activities, engaging with groups, and adapting my coaching style to suit different abilities and needs, including those with additional support requirements. I also contribute to creating a positive and motivating environment, acting as a role model and helping build participants’ confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills. Alongside practical coaching, I support with general organisation, communication, and ensuring sessions run smoothly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme, especially being on the slope and helping others improve and gain confidence. It’s rewarding and the people make it a good environment to be in. Some of the more structured parts can be challenging, but overall it’s a really positive experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed my coaching and communication skills a lot, especially explaining things clearly and working with different ability levels. I’m more confident leading and speaking to groups now, and I’ve improved my patience, teamwork, and ability to adapt to different people. It’s also helped me become more responsible when it comes to safety and supporting others.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well organised with clear structure and progression. Sessions run smoothly and expectations are clear. Sometimes parts can feel a bit repetitive, but overall it works really well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive strong support, with approachable staff and a positive environment to learn in. I’m also encouraged to be independent, which has built my confidence.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive good support with clear guidance and regular feedback, helping me stay on track with my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification supports my role well by giving me a better understanding of coaching techniques, communication, and working with different individuals. It helps me structure sessions more effectively and be more confident when delivering and supporting others. The knowledge I gain can be applied directly in practical situations, which improves my overall performance
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities through the programme. These include additional snow sports sessions, events, and social activities that help build a sense of community. There are also opportunities to take on more responsibility, meet new people, and develop skills outside of normal sessions, which I find really valuable.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Snow Camp to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Snow Camp because it provides a unique opportunity to develop both personally and professionally through snow sports. It helps build confidence, resilience, and teamwork, while also giving valuable coaching experience. The environment is supportive and inclusive, and it’s a great way to meet new people and try something different. Overall, it has been a very positive and rewarding experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Snow Camp?
My advice would be to stay open-minded, get involved as much as possible, and not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. The more effort you put in, the more you get out of it. It’s also important to stay consistent and take every opportunity to learn and improve.
