Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Pump selection for water systems in waste water treatment and clean water treatment sites
Assessment of mechanical capabilities of pumps and overall system with changes to site
Selection of other mechanical equipment in the site such as screens, cranes etc

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, there was a good amount of opportunity to work with suppliers, clients and other colleagues to gather information and complete tasks.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed the learning atmosphere, the opportunities from events and welcoming atmosphere to discuss career paths with colleagues and higher ups and the learning on the job nature of the placement from starting on projects almost right away.

What advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald

Be inquisitive about the sector and try to really understand the kind of work involved. In my case it was learning about treatment processes and reviewing university notes on pump sizing.
