Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The role of a production coordinator is to organise all the logistics when it comes to any sort of filming/recording. This could involve organising travel and accommodation, submitting accreditation, liaising with contributors and producers, assisting on site and much more. During my time on my apprenticeship, I worked within various teams at BBC Sport including Sports News, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Sport Documentaries and even got the opportunity to attend on-site at Wimbledon, London Marathon, Children in Need and Comic Relief.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed my time on my apprenticeship and really got involved with everything. The job was hands on and I got real experience from day 1. Everyone was so friendly and the managers really want you to succeed and give you amazing opportunities. I also made lots of friends within my apprenticeship cohort. The training element was interesting and supported the work I was doing on my day-to-day job.

Communication, general admin, and lots of new financial skills including budgeting and consolidating finances.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

A really good balance of training and on-the-job activities. I never felt overwhelmed with workload and the training elements had plenty of time allotted to complete assignments etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

You have an apprenticeship contact, a training contact and then the managers from your department. There were plenty of people to go to when I needed support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Again, anything I needed answering or support with when it came to training or my assignments, I was able to email or Teams throughout my apprenticeship. They were friendly and approachable.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I now have a full-time role at the BBC, using the skills I learnt on my apprenticeship. I was able to get a job as a Production Coordinator and excelled during the interview process, proving how equipped I was for the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Socials and networking events through the Apprentice Community, as well as general events and other staff networks you can join. Lots of teams and departments also arrange their own socials.

Why?
A great place to work, really flexible and you get some really interesting opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be yourself in your application and make sure you can evidence skills you already have that you can build upon. They're not looking for a finished product! It's an apprenticeship for a reason. I had no prior experience working in media when applying.
