Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I lead UK government and parliamentary engagement for Pearson, tracking education and skills policy, managing stakeholder relationships, coordinating consultations, and advising colleagues on regulatory and political developments. Day to day, I brief senior leaders, engage policymakers, oversee agencies, and ensure Pearson’s positions are clear, credible, and compliant.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I have only just started my apprenticeship and so it is difficult to give a definitive review of it so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

4/5
I have only recently started my programme and so have some way to go. However, I have already learned about and how to use a number of strategic planning tools and have utilised them to develop a new strategy for my function.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
This programme is delivered online. The whole programme timetable is clearly set out, both in terms of the learning sessions and the assignments due. The online portal is straightforward and easy to use - logging work and learning, and contacting coaches.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I receive strong and ongoing support from my employer through a range of structured and informal mechanisms. This includes access to apprenticeship ambassadors, a highly engaged Early Careers Team who support gateway meetings, mock assessments, EPA preparation, networking events and National Apprenticeship Week activities, as well as wider support through corporate membership of the Association of Apprentices, Credly skills credentialing, celebration and awards events, and encouragement to use volunteering days for careers and schools engagement. In addition, my line manager and team provide further day‑to‑day support, and the Early Careers Team are always available to help with any issues relating to my training provider or programme.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
I have regular meetings with my coaches. I have regular teach sessions that are followed up with sessions to test our understanding and to allow questions regarding assignments. They also provide clear materials to help support thinking around assignment development.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
Too early to tell.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
