My role is 'Business Support Assistant', I work with the Business Support Manage and complete daily operational roles and tasks. I also support HR with recruitment and any admin associated tasks. I love my role, as everyday is different and I'm always learning and developing new skills.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy working for JLES, and the skills I'm developing. My university programme is support my academic studies, and JLES are ensuring I get relevant exposure to different business operations to support my degree.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since joining in, I've developed new skills and existing skills. I've built on my organisational and admin skills, and I've also learnt the structure and operations of JLES. JLES has supported me in beginning my career and develop basic skills, such as communication and confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured. I work 4 days a week, and go into university every Wednesday.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is supportive within my apprenticeship. My manager regularly asks how I'm getting on, and also ensures I receive relevant exposure to different aspects of the company, to enhance my learning and understand how it relates to my role and where I work. I

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I really enjoy the support received of my training provider. I have had a few issues in the past, however I contacted my personal tutor and she's always resolved it.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I really understand how my academic learning supports my performance. By understanding and learning the academic knowledge, it allows you to understand how to enhance your role and also why you're completing certain areas of your role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I've attended multiple events, such as careers fairs, wellbeing events and we also complete social activities when we host our AGM and regional trips. It gives you a chance to socialise with your colleagues and get to know them better.
