This was a senior leadership apprenticeship. It represented an extension of my existing responsibliities to include support for developing my strategic leadership skills and growing my influence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It was great to combine learning theory, concepts and frameworks with opportunities to put the knowledge, skils and behaviours into practice in real situations in my role. This consolidated the learning and allowed for reflection on previous experiences, which all strengthened and reinforced the learning.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have predominantly developed and built on existing skills, augmenting them with concepts and frameworks that help me apply them more effectively and adapt them to new situtations.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program was well structured around learning modules, with a regular cadence of submitted assignments building towards the formal assessments at the end of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager was supportive, helping align my goals and identify opportunities to develop the skills and behaviours, and apply the knowledge gained through the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I had a regular monthly one-to-one with a dedicated professional development coach (tutor), and also access at other times as required. This was augmented with periodic, interactive small group sessions and full cohort working groups as a deeper dive into specific topics.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As with any qualification, how well it helps me perform comes down to my success in applying the knowledge skills and behaviours that I have developed whilst gaining the qualification.

There are various, inclusion focused communities and working groups that underpin the organisation's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International?
Fidelity International values integrity and trust, so be transparent, honest and follow through on your commitments. Be curious and recognise that learning involves making mistakes - be open about these and colloborate with colleagues to help you learn from them and improve. Be bold and suggest ways to improve existing processes and ways of working, always question why something is done if you don't understand the value being delivered.
