Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
A key part of my role is transforming data into meaningful outputs. Once insights are identified, I ensure findings are communicated in a clear and inclusive way through technical documentation, presentations, and interactive dashboards. This allows stakeholders at different levels to engage with and understand the data effectively.
The variety within my daily responsibilities provides continuous opportunities to develop new skills and gain experience. Whether working on new data requests or self-led analysis projects, I am consistently building my technical knowledge and confidence, while contributing valuable insights to the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I have felt consistently supported by both my coach and my manager at every stage of the apprenticeship. This support has been key in helping me progress and stay motivated, as I am always able to seek guidance and feedback when needed.
The structure of the programme allows for a healthy balance between my work responsibilities and apprenticeship commitments. This balance enables me to effectively manage my workload while also applying newly learned skills in a practical setting. Regularly using these skills in my role has helped to reinforce my understanding and strengthen my development.
The programme as a whole has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Alongside this, I have strengthened existing skills such as attention to detail, especially when working with large data sets where accuracy is essential. My problem solving skills have also improved, as I regularly come across data issues or inefficiencies and work to find better ways of handling them.
I have also developed my communication skills. I feel much more confident presenting insights and explaining data through dashboards, documentation, and presentations, making sure the information is clear and accessible to different audiences.
In addition to my day-to-day development, I have also achieved the Microsoft Power BI (PL-300) and Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) certifications alongside my apprenticeship. These qualifications have further strengthened my technical knowledge and supported my ability to apply best practices in my work.
Overall, the apprenticeship has helped me grow both technically and professionally, and I have been able to see clear progress in my skills overtime
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
Regular sessions, through a mix of courses and review meetings, provide consistent support and clear direction, allowing me to monitor my progress and set goals. The programme also allows me to apply what I learn in real scenarios, which reinforces my understanding.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I feel supported not just with work-related tasks, but with non-work-related things as well, which has created a really positive and understanding environment. This has made a big difference to my overall experience and wellbeing during my apprenticeship.
I’ve been given the time and flexibility to focus on my apprenticeship work alongside my role, which has helped me stay on track and get the most out of the programme. It’s made balancing everything much more manageable.
I’m also constantly encouraged to push myself further and take on new challenges. I’m supported to develop beyond my current skillset and aim to be the best I can be, which has really helped build my confidence and motivation.
I’m also encouraged to apply new skills in my day-to-day work, which has been really valuable for my development. Being able to take on new challenges in a supportive environment has helped build my confidence and progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
Regular sessions, through a mix of learning courses and review meetings, have helped me stay on track and understand my progress. These sessions give me the opportunity to ask questions, reflect on my development, and receive clear and constructive feedback.
I’ve also been supported in building both my technical knowledge and professional skills, with guidance tailored to my role and individual development. This has helped me feel more confident in applying what I’ve learned.
Additional support sessions have also been available if needed. However, I have felt well supported through the regular structure of the programme and have not needed to rely on extra sessions.
The support from my training provider and coach has played an important role in my progress and has made the apprenticeship a really positive experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
It’s also helped me work more efficiently and improve the accuracy of my work, as I have a better understanding of best practices. I’ve developed a more structured approach to problem-solving, which means I can work more independently and take on more responsibility.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
Wellbeing is a strong focus within the company, and these activities encourage a healthy work-life balance while also creating opportunities to connect with others across the organisation.
