Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a support technician for Brainboxes. We specialise in legacy devices for our customers. This includes our Ethernet to serial and network switches. I help our users with settings up their devices. troubleshooting issues with connecting to their PCs and networking issues with our devices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme was very enjoyable. Helped me so much throughout all my time with Baltic and the courses she led were brilliant in helping me achieve my distinction for my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt so much more than my base knowledge and skills I had when I started. From troubleshooting methodology, networking, the differences between types of backups, and cloud computing. I could go on and on, but there were a lot of new things to learn and even things that I improved my knowledge on if I knew about them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Everything was well organised in the programme. Information was easily accessible, and we always had reminders sent to us for important dates like hand-ins for assignments and important events.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Brainboxes supported me all throughout the apprenticeship. I couldn't have done it without them. Any questions or help I needed, they were there to help in any way possible. Special shoutout to my manager!!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Baltic gave so much support in working towards my qualification. Extra courses, revision notes for my EPA, practice sessions, and access to all the recordings of the sessions we took. I always feel like Baltic had my back during my apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It's made me more confident in my knowledge of IT. I'm always unsure of myself when it comes to a lot of things but achieving a distinction has shown me that I am capable in my role
