Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
Web development in an agile team, maintaining and improving the product my team works on. Highly collaborative ticket based work, in an efficient team that communicates well.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
The 'job' side of the program has been perfect, I've been well supported, my team is lovely, I've worked on interesting things and have loved contributing to the product I work on.
Had some issues with the 'off-the-job' training provider, the Open University, which is where the programme as a whole loses a star.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I am much more confident as a developer, in technical skills around the technologies I use, in personal skills for teamworking and communication, and in professional skills around the approaches to software development.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It's been great to work for, everyone I've met has been friendly and supportive, the work/life balance is good. The team I have worked in has been efficient and highly productive without being high-stress - there is an emphasis on quality more than deadlines.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?

Be enthusiastic about the work. I think my motivations were of more importance than any existing technical skills when applying for this apprenticeship.
