Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Complete coding 'tickets' where I produce code, review others code and maintain my different tasks. Often communicate with my team and the business to ensure my work meets the success criteria.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am enjoying my programme, have made friends for life and gained a great amount of experience and skill in my job. Has allowed me to grow significantly as a person.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Have majorly developed my coding skills, as a frontend engineer. Also developed my communication skills as a result of working closely with my team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well organised, especially on the BBC side of things. Any issues I've had come from my training provider, and my organisation works hard to support me and my studies. Very organised with our meet ups and coordinates to our module dates.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive and very considerate of my degree. They never hesitate to give me additional study days when needed. People within my organisation have also taken me on as a mentor/mentee relationship which has exponentially improved my growth.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have recently received much better support from my training provider with the addition of support sessions in my final year. My module tutors have been very helpful when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The content we learn does often overlap, which helps. However, as I work primarily as a frontend engineer, some backend modules have not been as useful to my role. The workload has also hindered my performance in my role at times.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am very social in work, especially with other apprentices. I was a part of the apprentice podcast editing team in my first year. I have also done events for our Retrace community (aka Black in Tech). I am also involved in Women in Stem. I am also in the process of organising a hackathon with a fellow apprentice to improve the networking with other apprentice cohorts.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Has been extremely supportive and friendly. I hope to be with the organisation for many more years.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be yourself and show an eagerness to learn. They can teach anyone a coding language but they can't teach a 'can do' attitude.
