Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of assisting with complex legal matters as well as running claims of my own. It can be anything from strategy analysis and writing advice to clients, preparing court documents, legal research to attending mediations, court hearings and anything in between. The variety is excellent and as you progress you are given more responsibility and complex tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is well run and compliments my work well. The studying side of the programme can be challenging to juggle with work and life commitments as you progress through.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been given regular opportunities to learn new skills and develop including going on client secondment, undertaking various placements within different legal teams and am consistently stretched and given the chance to try new tasks.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well organised and we can see what modules we will do well in advance. We are given an idea of exam periods early to enable us to prepare. Internally at the firm the structure of the programme is well organised with time in the central paralegal team to begin with and then year long placement rotations before joining the trainee programme in the final 2 years. In reality the placements can be a little more sporadic and extended based on business need but they still ensure you have a wide range of opportunities within different teams throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support is excellent and unwavering. Whether it is support with studies, work or welfare.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from ULaw is good. We have regular lectures and drop in sessions as well as periodic reviews with our skills coaches. Most of the time if you contact with queries or need help they respond quickly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The studying often supports the work I do but also is different to my area of practice. When it does coincide it makes me feel more confident in work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have netball and football teams as well as a choir. We have regular team socials and firm wide events.

Why?
Friendly and supportive culture. Good level of work and opportunity to grow. Amazing early talent team to support with apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RPC?
Consider the values of the firm and incorporate into the application. Ensure your application says why RPC compared to other firms. Look at the key cases we have worked on and BD and pro bono work as well.
