Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Process engineer for waste water and clean water sites. Typical daily tasks include mass balances, data analysis, P&ID markups, report writing, making presentations, risk assessments.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

It has varied by project, but usually given lots of responsibility and lots of support if I need it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed lots of soft skills like, email writing, communication, calls, time management etc.
Gained lots of knowledge on how water treatment works and different safety standards.
Most technical work has not been necessarily new but applied from school or university.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

My enjoyment during placement varied depending on how much work I had and the projects I was doing. I had a period where I had very little work which was quite demoralising and demotivating. However, generally I have really enjoyed it.
