Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My role involves the use of IESVE, which is a software that can simulate heating and cooling systems, and air movement. This involves the use of CAD drawings and Revit, to build a model which allows the different systems to be incorporated into the models and simulated for their suitability.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I thoroughly enjoy working here, and have loved getting to learn more about building services each day through working with various engineers within the office.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt so much in the space of time working here, and am starting understand how much services and design goes into a building. I have also learnt how the services work together and what calculations go into the sizing of plant and fittings. Through the use of different softwares, I have become more competent and confident when using them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is very well structured, with regular contact with my line manager, and a clear path for development in place.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My employer is very supportive, with everyone in the office very willing to help with any questions I may have, and providing me with lots of support on all my work throughout various projects. There is also a well set out path for apprentices in terms of their learning and development.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
My training provider is very supportive and is always looking for different ways to help and support me when I may have an exam or assignment coming up. They are constantly enquiring about my day to day work also to ensure the theory they are providing is relevant.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
The day release to my training provider gives me more of an insight into what I am actually designing, and helps me understand the theory of why certain systems are in place. I can then apply this theory learnt into my day to day work to give me a better idea of the plant and calculations being produced.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
There is multiple social events throughout the year within the office, with the opportunity to get involved with the other offices across the company and connect with others. There is also some professional events which gives me the opportunity to meet people within the same role from other companies and learn off each other, and to learn from experts within the industry.
