Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
As a SAP BTP consultant, I help clients extend and integrate their SAP systems using BTP rather than modifying the core. Day to day, I switch between working with the business to understand requirements and building or configuring integrations, extensions, and apps on BTP. A lot of the role is problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and making sure solutions are scalable and aligned with SAP best practices.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I like the role because it’s a good mix of technical problem‑solving and working directly with the business. No two days are the same, and I enjoy designing solutions that are clean, scalable, and actually make a difference for how clients use SAP.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Yes, definitely. I’ve built on my existing SAP and integration knowledge and picked up a lot of hands‑on experience with BTP services like Integration Suite, CAP, and Fiori. I’ve also improved my architecture and problem‑solving skills, especially around designing clean, scalable solutions. On top of that, working closely with clients has helped strengthen my communication skills and confidence in running workshops and explaining technical concepts in a simple way.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The programme is well organised and clearly structured. There’s a good balance between on‑the‑job learning and the university side with Sheffield Hallam, which makes it easier to relate theory to real work. Expectations and milestones are clear, and having regular reviews and support from both my employer and university helps me stay on track. Overall, it’s structured enough to give direction while still allowing flexibility to learn through practical experience.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. I have access to experienced colleagues who are always willing to help when I have questions or need guidance, especially on new or complex tasks. My manager is supportive and regularly checks in on my progress, both with work and my apprenticeship. I’m also given time to complete my university work, which helps me balance my job and studies effectively. Overall, the support makes it easier to learn and develop confidence in my role.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
I receive good support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. Tutors are accessible and responsive when I need help, and there are regular check‑ins to make sure I’m progressing as expected. The learning materials are clear and relevant, and any issues or concerns are addressed quickly. Overall, the support helps me stay on track and balance my work alongside my studies.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
I feel the qualification helps me perform better in my role by giving me a strong foundation in digital and technical principles that link directly to my day‑to‑day work. The learning supports what I’m doing on the job, especially around problem‑solving, understanding systems, and working in a structured way. It also helps me better understand the wider context of my work, which makes me more confident when contributing to discussions and taking on new tasks.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
I have joined the badminton team I've also joined the community stream as well as the committee team for Calls and but there are so many other opportunities

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Yes, I would recommend Capgemini to a friend. It’s a supportive place to learn, especially as an apprentice, with good exposure to real client work and experienced colleagues who are willing to help. The company encourages development through training, certifications, and hands‑on experience, which makes it a strong environment for building skills and confidence early in your career.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?

I’d say be yourself and show a genuine interest in learning. Capgemini values attitude just as much as technical skills, especially for early‑career roles and apprenticeships. It helps to research the company, understand what areas it works in, and be ready to talk about why you’re interested in technology or consulting. Also, don’t be afraid to talk about examples where you’ve learnt something new or worked as part of a team , those experiences matter more than having everything figured out already.
