Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I handle Professional Indemnity claims under delegated authority of multiple Insurers. My role has given me insight into solicitors, construction and numerous other professions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my work, the culture and people I work with day-to-day are fantastic. I am a part of a law firm and work closely with our solicitors. I feel that I have been exposed to a wide range of opportunities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I didn't know anything about insurance before I started my role. My colleague and apprenticeship through the CII has given fountains of knowledge about multiple kinds of insurance. It has developed my ability to talk to people I don't know and each day grows my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Good. There is clearly a direction but the lines get blurred with my provider. There are constant delays which limit me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
On the flip side, the support I have received from my colleagues and my employer have been nothing short of fantastic. They help me with my caseload when I need to focus on my studies and are always there if I have any questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I do not like my apprenticeship provider, BPP. Their role in my apprenticeship has been nothing to note; all feedback I have received from them has been basic and vague. I feel as though my own aptitude and desire to learn is what has helped keep me largely on track of my work/ studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
What I have learnt in my role as a Claims Handler apprentice has been down to my fantastic team. I have been taught basically everything through them and with their guidance. Very little of my day-to-day job roles comes from what my provider has taught me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always social events going on across the firm which don't just include the claims handling team, and it is fantastic way to get to know people. There are also social committees and sports teams.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RPC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great people. Great work culture. Great social nature and lots of support. I haven't felt as though I couldn't talk to anyone- everyone is very welcoming.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RPC?
I would advise ensuring that you have a positive approach to your work. Every mistake i just learning something new and it's important to adopt a positive approach.
