Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
Day-to-day, I support my team in supporting people experience at Samsung. This involves supporting our employee resource groups, wellbeing initiatives, internal communications, employee engagement and internal events. Alongside this, I am also completing my Level 5 People Professional Qualification, which includes a Level 5 CIPD. I spend one day each week studying towards this - joining webinars, studying and working with other functions in the People Team to gain wider exposure.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy both the work and the study aspects of my apprenticeship, and find it particularly interesting when I can see the overlap between them. I work in a supportive team and get given some great opportunities to provide real value to the business, but sometimes I struggle to get exposed to other areas of the business or understand the inner workings, as I don't get invited into certain rooms or conversations. This can limit my wider understanding and development of some skills, especially when it means the work I am doing is more administrative. However, beyond my day-to-day role, I have been given some great opportunities that I would not get elsewhere.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

4/5
I have developed and learned lots of different skills, but sometimes I feel that there are opportunities that could be extended to me that would allow me to grow these skills faster and learn from more senior colleagues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

2/5
Certain elements, such as the training programmes that we all partake in, are well organised, and there is a clear timeline of when these take place and why. However, due to managers not being properly briefed on having an apprentice in the team (and how fast-paced the business is), it often feels like when it comes to my formal learning, I am left to figure that out on my own.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

3/5
I have a lot of support in certain areas from my manager and wider team, especially settling into the corporate world and giving me the appropriate time to allow me to complete my studies. However, I do sometimes feel like it is forgotten that some situations I have never encountered.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

2/5
My training provider provides great support for my formal learning, and the resources are useful. However, they are not always easy to reach out to for support in this area.
I have found that there is a gap where neither the training provider or employer can support me in meeting my KSBs.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
Very much so! I find that I can see clear links between my formal learning and day-to-day role. This is great as not all of my team have the qualification and theoretical insights.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
There are a few, but they are not very structured and rely on individuals to organise.
