Maintain the fixed asset register
Create, update, and retire assets
Ensure correct asset numbers, cost centres, and classifications
CAPEX tracking & validation
Link CAPEX spend to approved projects
Reconcile CAPEX sheets to raw financial data
Ensure spend is capitalised correctly and on time
Depreciation & reporting
Run and review depreciation postings
Investigate variances and ensure accuracy in the GL
Month‑end close activities
Perform asset and balance sheet reconciliations
Handle VAT netting and EC clear‑downs
Support month‑end timelines and postings
Controls & compliance
Ensure accounting treatments follow IFRS and internal policies

Operational & admin support
Resolve system, data, or asset‑related issues

I really enjoy the apprenticeship. Its very rewarding and i learn so much, especially in finance. everyone is very welcoming and the onboarding is very smooth.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Through my role, I have developed a range of new technical and professional skills within financial accounting. I’ve gained hands‑on experience maintaining the fixed asset register, ensuring assets are accurately recorded, updated, and disposed of correctly, as well as running and reviewing depreciation and investigating variances. I’ve also strengthened my understanding of VAT processes, including VAT netting and EC clear‑downs, and improved my ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month‑end close. Alongside the technical skills, I’ve built strong attention to detail, improved my problem‑solving abilities, and become more confident working to tight deadlines and collaborating with other finance and operational teams.

At the moment im only at the start of my apprenticeship so i havn't had a lot of exposure

lots, many sports like football and cricket. theres also many outreach programmes for emerging talent as well.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Samsung Electronics?
Samsung is a very fast paced business, when applying show how you are as a person as its a very fun and lively place to work. being yourself and showing that youre a fun and good person to work with is very important.
