Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I'm learning all sorts of different aspects to do with engineering and maintenance. Plus the couple years going back to college, at the start of the apprenticeship, to sharpen and add more to my knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, health and safety and other subjects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme I am on, it isn't easy but keeping up with work is exactly what needs to happen to prevent being overwhelmed or forgetting about assignments.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt loads of new skills, how to weld, how to build stuff and safely inspect electrical components. I already had skills in using tools but this course has refined how I use them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is well structured on JLR's part, the college is where it lacks which is unfortunate but it isn't that bad, I am getting through it well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides excellent help should I need it. JLR is a great employer for employee support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider, North West Training Council, is good with support as the staff there do want to see us do well. It is just slightly let down by the organisational skills of the provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The staff and teachers at the provider do teach us very well, they are usually from a background of engineering work and are best suited for training us. They teach us what we need to know to start our careers well in the actual workplace. We are going to work already with a bunch of knowledge and necessary skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are sports team being held in work and professional events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have found it to be a good place to work, the support is very useful if you need it and the tradesmen who work there want you, the apprentice, to be successful and perform very well within your job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
The apprenticeship contains a lot of paperwork to do, lots of assignments and long pieced of work to be handed in but, it is worth it for the qualification you'll get out the end of it, for sure.
