Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working on different projects on different parts of the software development lifecycle. I write and improve requirements and also code parts of a project my team works on
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The balance between work and university is great! JLR is very accommodating when we have University deadlines and my manager is very easy to talk to and takes note any concerns I raise in my 1 to 1s. Team members are also very willing to help and give feedback on my work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Plenty of opportunity to try out and improve different skills. Placements in other teams were also available when I wanted to gain new skills that I couldn't practice in my home team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well! There are also dedicated teams in JLR to discuss concerns as an apprentice and support is available should it be needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is always available, you just have to ask
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support is always available however it does sometimes take a bit of time to get it. While there I very thorough 1 to 1s they are far less frequent.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
What I learn at university introduces me to the context and broader concepts of what I do at work. This does mean however, that sometimes there isn't crossover with what I study and University and what I do at work because I work on a very specific part of a set few modules at work (until I switch projects)
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes! Lots! There are 'networks' (societies) for almost anything

Recommendations & Advice

It's a very accommodating workplace that genuinely cares about improving and creating an environment where employees are happy and can thrive. There's also a strong company culture of integrity and consideration for others.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Be genuine and be yourself not what you think the company wants you to be
