Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role includes maintenance in different areas within industry. Where I am assigned within the JLR Solihull site, my role covers maintaining mechanical, electrical as well as hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. On a day to day basis, I can have a mixture of different jobs that fall under any one of the main areas of work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy meeting new people within the company as each person has their own knowledge, goals and skills that I can learn from. Additionally, I enjoy how working on different jobs can take you different places around the site I am working on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills since starting this apprenticeship. Some being the skills I have picked up working with new and intriguing tools. Moreover, I have improved on my problem solving skills as each task that has been set before me has been different in some way.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured and organised, however sometimes the periods when I could be on or off sight can get muddled up. This can result in uncertainty for what the upcoming weeks or months can hold.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a lot of support within the company I am in. Supervisors are a great help and the workers who are already qualified have great knowledge and support me when doing tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a lot of support from the training providers. However, sometimes it can become confusing as they have to go a pace of which that classes are going.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Learning how to use different tools as well as learning the safety procedures does help when I am in the workplace as it provides me with a foundation of knowledge I can fall back on when confused with a task.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are sport teams involved at JLR as well as other social activities. However, where I am based has shown me less than what I have heard about from colleagues over on the Main site.

Recommendations & Advice

Yes
Why?
The work can be very interesting and the skills, knowledge and behaviours you can pick up from the role will be transferable to different job roles later in life. It is a great place to begin a foundation for someone who wants to climb high within the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Learn the role you are doing before applying and make it a interest to understand the companies future goals and aspirations and how it can affect you working there in the future.
