Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at MBDA?
Overall I have loved it. I have felt very supported by the Early Careers Team and by all of my colleagues. I don't feel much pressure at work which is nice as a graduate and I feel I have been encouraged to take every possible opportunity.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the opportunity to go into my old school on behalf of the company and help develop young engineers. I am part of the Robot Rumble and Outreach schemes at work.
I also enjoy the level of responsibility I'm given despite the early stage of my career.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
There are some very good perks and benefits at the company such as triple subsidised food and coffee, good pension scheme, share incentive scheme, cycle to work scheme, discounts at most high street stores, dynamic working and much more.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
I think there is good career development and they actively encourage it but you still need to put in a lot of the effort yourself
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I develop a lot of new skills and I'm given time and patience to do this. We also have several online hubs where you can learn new skills for free if you have any spare time

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
We have a mentor/buddy system and a manager dedicated purely to helping you through the grad scheme. We also have the early careers team we can reach out to and a HR representative. I feel supported and know that when I have a question one of these people will definitely have the answer.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Very good, I am required to work no overtime (although admittedly I willing do some) and I despite being very busy I don't feel overworked. The holiday package is very competitive and if you work additional time and buy extra leave you can take a maximum of 45 days annual leave a year. I have time for all the things I want to do in my personal life.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture is great, 90% of people are very friendly and willing to give you some of their time. We have a great coffee culture partly due to a coffee being 80 pence. Hybrid working is very popular with most people doing 2/3 days at home a week yet it doesn't hinder productivity. There are also loads of societies you can get involved with such as sports, dance, military, social and so much more.
How would you rate MBDA initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
It is something they are passionate about and have several societies to help promote it.
How would you rate MBDA CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
I am not personally involved with any of these but aware they exist and that they have a good reputation.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend MBDA to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an amazing place to work with great hybrid working, benefits, culture and facilities. They are progressive and actually listen to what their people want. Nothing can ever be perfect but I have very few complaints. The only thing is I feel the pay is not as competitive as some other competitors but that is accounted for by the benefits we receive.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
One thing I would say is the online job adverts are very similar for almost every job role. I feel they don't sell the company well enough and I had no idea it would be such a good place to work based off the recruitment process.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to MBDA?
Research the company, mention a recent project or our core values. Show an interest in us. Also for those applying to the grad scheme and therefore doing an assessment centre, do not undermine the group task. It is an easy way to stand out if you do your research and learn what the assessors are looking for. And then standard interview prep, you can find tips like suggested attire, likely questions and desired behaviours online so make sure you look into this.
