Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves enforcement of safety on site, coordination of works in my areas - this means I have to make all works are planned appropriately and sufficiently for safety and logistical reasons. I also manage datascope on a large scale after moving to the latest version. That involves problem solving everyday, offering support to subcontractors and facilitating the launch of new ideas on the system

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

There's so much to learn with limitless boundaries. There's challenges but an equal amount of support.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've picked up so many tips in the pass year but the most important one that I developed and still developing is my ability to work with a vast range of people to a common goal. Critical thinking is a skill that is also demanded everyday to get the job done.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

From a company point of view, very organised. I have a career conscious manager who put me in different branches of my role to allow me to grow and learn to be where I am today.
From a training point of view it was ok, however I believe there is room for improvement. Firstly there should be some sort of training for managers on how to use Aptem and FQA to give managers the liberty to resolve issues quicker, as well as what is required of them as a manager. Additionally, there should be a helpdesk that is prompt to action these items out

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager and the rest of the mace team have been excellent in supporting my career development. I feel seen, heard and respected by my team and manager. Our monthly one to ones allow me to have a in depth catch up with my manage: setting goals, aspirations, echoing concerns and points for improvement.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My skills reviewer and I have started having frequent chats regarding my EPA, offering me advice and tips before I send them over for approval.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It is related however sometimes not really taught that well. It can be very disengaging at times.
Maybe site visits, tours or any other practical presentation might help.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, as the alumni of Construction Youth Trust (CYT), my company fully support my position in the group. They give me information and the time to visit other schools / events to echo the impact of apprenticeships.
