Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4 days a week I was in my team, learning and shadowing at the beginning which went onto working on building emails, competitions and quizzes for brands such as Bluey and BBC Earth. The other one day a week would be spent on my apprenticeship projects/monthly seminar.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I felt the work/study balance worked really well for me and it was manageable and my team was very understanding of my priorities and deadlines, always supporting me where they could.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so much since joining, working with multiple external stakeholders to help deliver campaigns, using platforms such as Zeta to help build our quizzes and competitions. I learn from nothing how to Navigate Salesforce Marketing Cloud and within weeks was building, QA-ing and scheduling email newsletters to brands including BBC Earth and Hey Duggee.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My manager is very good at helping me manage my workload and making sure I am using my time effectively. I work towards deadlines and prioritise those that may have the highest impact. I have weekly calls with my team, manager and multiple teams and stakeholders that I work with to make sure campaigns remain on time and organised, such as setting deadlines we need assets on our side.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have weekly meetings with my team and manager and they are interested in the work I do, and always available if I need a hand.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider was great, they kept in touch once a month through our seminars and regulary over email when I would submit any tasks. Towards the EPA period of my assessment they spoke to me and my manager often to check in and see how I was getting on and offered resources and their support.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learnt valuable marketing skills and theories such as how to deal with stakeholders which is crucial in my role as I work with several internal and external. I learn the importance of CRM software and how to use it which as a CRM co-ordinator I use daily to organise my workload and communicate with brands.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is many on offer, and always reaching out - I am yet to explore these :)

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The work/study balance is great, and teams are very understanding of this. There is such a variety of work and each brand is different so every day there is something new to work on.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?

Be yourself, not what you think they may be looking for. Your personality is a lot harder to find than your qualifications :)
