Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My role as an Oracle infrastructure Engineer involves a mix of activities, the role I currently sit in on my client allows me to gain a mix of skills as I work across a mix of roles (SaaS and PaaS as well as IaaS). I am often on calls with my team and the client to gather requirements, action them and improve on past tasks.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
The programme with Sheffield Hallam university has been amazing! The modules are well integrated and if you choose the pathway that aligns with your role, you will be fulfilled in both your academic and work roles

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt a plethora of new skills while working on the DTSP degree apprenticeship with Capgemini and Sheffield Hallam University. I have been given training resources and chances to gain certificates by completing online courses, advance my skills while working on projects (internal and client).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The support from Capgemini is dependent on your people managers knowledge of Degree Apprenticeships and how much work is involved. If your people manager is aware and willing to learn and put the time in, then your support and organisation during the apprenticeship is un-ending. However, I believe Capgemini can be more transparent about how much work is truly involved with the apprenticeship, and how involved the people manger has to be.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
In my team, I am supported extremely well by my employer. So long as I give ample notice as to when I will need study leave, on-campus days, expenses for travel to the university, etc. My people manager has been particularly helpful, learning about what is involved in the apprenticeship and attending the tripartite reviews religiously.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
Sheffield Hallam university are supportive and understanding - communication is key. The university cannot support you unless you communicate. I think the experience you have with the apprenticeship is entirely based on what you make it.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
I think the modules definitely have applications in the workplace, especially on the ITC pathway as a consultant. The module application is dependent on your work place role, and that is why choosing the pathway which aligns with your role (or the role you wish to be in) is so important.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Yes! Capgemini have several internal communities all of which host events at offices throughout the country. Capgemini is incredibly inclusive and ensures there are ample opportunities to socialise with colleagues.
