Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
As a User Research Lead, I am responsible for ensuring the needs and perspectives of over 250,000 end users are captured and reflected in the Oracle HR and finance implementation.
My work includes planning and delivering user research activities, such as recruiting participants, organising and conducting interviews, usability testing, and observational studies. I collaborate closely with government departments to gather insights, synthesise findings, and communicate these back to stakeholders.
I translate research outcomes into clear recommendations for design and delivery teams, supporting continuous improvements and ensuring user needs are embedded throughout the programme.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Studying for a Chartered Management degree at Manchester Metropolitan University has strengthened my business knowledge and given me practical tools that I’ve been able to apply in a real-world environment.

Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Why?
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Structure your thinking.
Use real examples from uni, work, or projects, small ones are fine.
Practice basic case-style questions (they care about logic, not perfect answers).
Explain things like you’re talking to a client, not an interviewer.
Show how you think when things are unclear, that matters a lot.
Teamwork stories are important (conflict, collaboration, leadership).
Know the basics of IBM (consulting, AI, cloud, transformation).
Talk through your thinking instead of going silent if stuck.
Stay calm and structured, that’s more important than “perfect” answers.
