Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I work in a client-facing leadership role, where my day-to-day focus is on managing and growing strategic client relationships. This involves working closely with clients to understand their priorities, shaping solutions that meet their business objectives, and coordinating internal teams across technology, delivery, finance, and commercial functions. On a typical day, I might be advising a client on transformation options, reviewing proposals or commercials, supporting bid and account planning activity, or removing blockers for teams to keep things moving. The role is fast-paced and varied, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution and a strong emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I’ve really enjoyed the apprenticeship. It’s been a great addition to my engineering background, giving me the chance to return to formal learning while developing a stronger grounding in strategic management and leadership. The topics are highly relevant to my role, and the ability to apply the learning directly to real work situations has made the experience both practical and rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

4/5
Yes, definitely. The apprenticeship has helped me both develop existing skills and build new ones. In particular, it has strengthened my strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and decision-making capability, moving beyond my core engineering background. I’ve also developed leadership skills such as reflective practice, influencing stakeholders, and applying structured management frameworks to real business situations. The programme has helped me articulate and formalise skills I was already using intuitively, while also giving me new tools and language to approach complex strategic and leadership challenges more confidently.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well structured, with Henley Business School being a strong academic partner. Capgemini does a great job of adding organisational context to the learning, which makes it highly relevant in practice. The support structure is strong, with clear SPOCs available throughout, making the overall experience well organised and easy to navigate.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I ’ve received strong support from my employer throughout the apprenticeship. My manager is fully supportive, I have an internal mentor, and I’ve never had difficulties dedicating time to study alongside day-to-day work. There’s a genuine emphasis on development, which makes balancing the programme with role responsibilities much easier.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
The support from the training provider has been excellent. The programme benefits from a good mix of on‑site training and structured learning, which helps bring the content to life and encourages discussion and reflection. There are regular check-ins throughout the programme, ensuring consistent guidance and momentum. The tutors operate an open‑door approach and are always approachable for questions, feedback, or reassurance when needed. This level of accessibility and ongoing engagement has made the experience very supportive and helped me stay confident and well‑supported while working towards the qualification.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
The qualification has helped me perform more effectively in my role by strengthening my strategic thinking, leadership approach, and decision-making. The practical, applied nature of the learning means it directly supports real workplace challenges and adds clear value day to day.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
Yes, but I need to create more balance to participate in those. Sometimes I feel the marketing and communications around them could be a bit better.
