Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
Including dealing with any issues of parts not being in on time or delays.
As well as checking prices are still the same online as they show in our system if there were any differences I would in form the relevant buyer.
Delivery reports are run a week in advance to try and resolve any delays or issues before the parts are actually due in to resolve any shortages a delay might cause.
Expedites are reports sent out weekly to try and pull in any deliveries to a sooner date this is usaually because stock is getting low.
De-expedites are to help the warehouse in order especially with large deliveries for example if we already have 500 for the next 3 months we can push the next delivery out until we are down to 100 in stock so that inventory does not get over run.
Shortages is a report ran weekly which is gone through on a Friday to check all stock in case we have used more stock than usual or if there are any delays. This then gets put onto a separate spreadsheet where the buyer are able to asses and try and get alternative parts in to minimise any production stops
EDI this used for certain vendors. Which is a forecast as well as orders which the vendors system reads to process current orders and suspected orders in the future.
Orders are raised daily and sent out to the suppliers. Once confirmed by the supplier I needed to check the order conformation to make sure all details are correct as prices fluxgate as well as quantities and delivery dates. all which could cause shortages and production stops for the company.
Updating the system daily with updates/ replies to the reports sent out, this is extremely important to make sure that buyers and other members of the company can be completely up to date with any issues or progress to manage the production line efficiently.
As well as supporting buyers daily with any issues or work loads.
