Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Throughout your role and time on the apprenticeship you rotate across 4 departments, spending 6 months in each department. So far I have primarily spent more time in Accounts Payable and this involved processing invoices, assist with setting up vendor accounts on our system, set up employee expense accounts on our system, complete catering recharges and other helped with other roles when necessary. I have just moved into the Procurement department and so far have spent my time managing the inbox and help respond with queries, filling documents in our internal systems and get involved in projects where possible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme as you are exposed to a variety of different roles throughout the different departments and can gain responsibility for different tasks and projects. There are also opportunities to speak with other departments as well to gain further understanding of how the whole finance department operates.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed strong communication skills through daily interactions with colleagues, as well as through writing professional emails to a wide range of internal stakeholders on various matters. In addition, I have strengthened my problem-solving skills, particularly when completing tasks such as invoice processing, which required reviewing multiple systems and liaising with different individuals to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors. Furthermore, I have enhanced my IT skills, gaining confidence in using Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as learning to effectively navigate and use internal systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say the programme is well structured as it clearly outlines the seat rotations and the time you spend in each department.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a high level of support from my employer, and as an apprentice, the colleagues I work with are always willing to provide guidance. They offer help not only with my day-to-day responsibilities, but also with my apprenticeship work and qualification when required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider as we have college days where we are taught the content and we also have our own account where there is support with my qualification work outside of college.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I say that my qualification does help me with my role but could say that the modules we learn could be more specific to the departments I work in through the apprenticeship programme.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are sport teams like 5 aside in the finance department you can get involved with. The firm also provides tickets and access to events in Leeds with discounts to these which you can apply for. And throughout the year there are networking and social events you can get involved with.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Addleshaw Goddard to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes I would recommend as throughout the programme you are exposed to a range of departments and many development opportunities throughout the programme and potentially after if you stay with the firm. Also you have lots of support with both your day to day role and with your apprenticeship work which is really good
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Addleshaw Goddard?
Make sure you understand the role your applying for so you can show this through the application process, and also develop some knowledge about the firm such as how we are growing and awards we have attained.
