Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within the apprentice, I rotate around different placements on a 6-monthly basis. At the moment I am doing a placement in Project Management, where I am responsible for overseeing a programme with support of my Placement Manager.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have had a great experience on the programme so far, and have felt supported by my workplace and university throughout the past two and a half years. I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge from each of my placements which I look forward to utilising in the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Through my apprenticeship I have learnt an abundance of new skills; ranging from developing my soft skills, such as presenting and communication, to gaining invaluable knowledge around the world of contracting and negotiating. I look forward to learning more as I progress throughout the scheme.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is extremely well organised, with a clear plan of each placement I will be joining and identified timescales.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have felt supported throughout the duration of my apprenticeship, having various different contacts to reach out to.

I feel the modules taught at university align well with the requirements of my job role; aiding my development and performance.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am part of the Work Experience Team, and Induction Team - which are both extra-curricular activities which develop my skillset outside of the day job.
There are also sports team available to join, and an abundance of social/networking groups

A great place to work, as I feel highly valued as an employee. The support available is amazing, both from my direct team and HR advisors.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MBDA?

Ensure you understand the apprenticeship programme before applying, and develop your understanding around the work MBDA does.
