Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day-to-day in the store we regularly check what stock in the warehouse can go on the shelves to make sure stock levels remain steady. We also have a high focus on customer service ensuring we give all attention to our customers when they rely on us.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme as it is my first job and it has given me so much experience and taught me things someone at my age may not have learnt so soon into their career.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I went into this job having no experience in customer service and a lack of knowledge on how a shop actually runs efficiently. Now I am confident in talking to people and able to share my knowledge when asked questions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is one I enjoy as everyday is different however it all follows a basic pattern as to who does what to keep the shop running smoothly. There is also always room for trying something new as everyone is always willing to teach you something you haven’t done before.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very reliable and also very understanding when you have a question. They are willing to explain to you and show you as many times needed so you can fully understand.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support is amazing as I never feel ashamed to not understand something straight away.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as if working towards a qualification helps me perform better as I know I am always able to improve and having a goal gives me motivation to deepen my skills and always persevere.

Why?

It is a very relaxed environment in terms of staff as once you get to know everybody you become very comfortable and know you can always rely on them. There is also always people to help wether it be colleagues, store management, area managers or tutors.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?

Always be yourself, be willing to learn new things and be somebody your employer is able to rely on. (always be punctual)
