Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role of digital communications apprentice, I have many different responsibilities including:
- Content creation (videos, pictures, copy and graphics)
- Social media monitoring/ management
- Attending team calls
- Creating/ editing website pages
- Collecting, analysing and presenting data
- Organising tasks and deadlines
- Gathering information and transforming it into clear, accessible content
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my job role. I am continuously developing new skills and have been able to work in a busy office environment with other team members.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt and developed many skills over my two years at CUH. Personally, I would say that the biggest development for myself has been my level of confidence. Working alongside team members, I have learnt that the dynamic of the team and how we work together is extremely important. I have developed skills in copy writing, photography, videography, website creation, am familiar with trust values and GDPR laws put in place.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My team is very organised. We use a social media management system to collaborate on tasks and share ideas. This is where we keep an eye on deadlines, and where we put all useful info relating to current content that the team is working on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager and I meet for a check in every morning to go through what I have going on for the day, and to see how my capacity is and how I am getting on. I really appreciate this as I often have questions, or need new tasks given to me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my training provider throughout my apprenticeship. I would be able to call my coach whenever I had questions, I was given lots of online reading/ studying materials to help me prepare. Whenever I encountered an issue regarding logging on or joining a call, the help line number was always very helpful and had the correct info to help me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel as though the online sessions taught me the main building blocks of digital marketing/communications. It has allowed me to complete day to day tasks with ease, whilst also building my confidence in myself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many groups, workshops and clubs for CUH staff members to join. Like:
- Creative health workshops
- Weekly meditation sessions
- Gardening events
- Peer support groups
- Menopause support group
And more!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS Cambridge University Hospitals to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I love the ethos of CUH: Together, safe, kind and excellent. In my team these values appear in our day to day work and interactions. It's amazing working for an organisation that is still growing - I have had the opportunity to work alongside the development of the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, which is not something everyone gets to do. It also feels very rewarding working for the NHS, as we get to see the impact our work really makes.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS Cambridge University Hospitals?
I would suggest that the trust values need to somewhat align with your own values. This is because they play a huge part of what we do on a day to day basis.
