Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I worked in the Environment Nature & Consents division writing technical reports and supporting licence applications. I also assisted with data collection from multiple sources and analysis.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given lots of responsibilities during my placement and completed lots of tasks independently, whilst being fully supported by colleagues.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have been able to develop skills that I learnt at university during this placement which has progressed my understanding and knowledge of this industry. I have also learnt new skills by gaining experience through lots of new challenges, e.g. licencing and data analysis.

My colleagues were very helpful and supportive during my placement, and people took the time to provide guidance and answer any questions, which I really appreciated.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

There is a very good general atmosphere in the office and everyone is friendly. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in a variety of social events.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my placement at Mott MacDonald. I got the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects, all of which I did gained and developed different skills from, whilst applying knowledge I learnt at university. Everyone I worked with during my placement was friendly and happy to help me if I had any questions. I have learnt a lot during my placement from project work and colleagues.
