Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role, I do a lot of tasks related to data analysis due to my apprenticeship. This involved building reports and dashboards, discovering trends and insights within data and provide stakeholders with tracking tools and analysis that can help make business decisions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed skills such as using software I have not used before e.g. R Studio, and look at data in different ways. It provided me with new ideas on how to build reports taking into account UX and customer needs.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very nicely structured with the opportunity to have some teacher led lectures where there is a lot of demonstrations and explanations about the modules, as well as the opportunity to meet fellow apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The employer was really supportive, providing me with flexible time to work on my apprenticeship alongside my day-to-day job.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Monthly catch-ups with my training provider coach were really helpful to make sure I understand what is required of me, ironing out any questions or issues I've had and feedback for the case studies I was uploading.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification is providing me with skills and knowledge that I use in my job. The new tools I have been exploring is something that we are also implementing in the company so getting a head start in knowing how to use them is a good benefit. It also allows gives me more confidence when taking part in stakeholder meetings.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Due to the fact we have a hybrid working style since COVID, it is more difficult to see people in the office as a lot of people work from home. This has reduced the ability to have events and the social aspect of work. I will say though that ocassionally we still try to host something to keep people connected and work together in the office on more difficult tasks. We also have other apprentices around which I tend to network with.

Why?
I would say that when it comes to apprenticeships, City & Guilds holds a very high standard and has the experience to know the best way to support the employees who are trying to juggle work and apprenticeship. There is a lot of support from colleagues and managers, as well as opportunities to build a solid portfolio.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to City & Guilds?
The advice would be to use the opportunities that City & Guilds provides and find a suitable apprenticeship that you find interesting. With the support mechanisms in place here, you can really achieve a lot and develop as a person.
