Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the Commercial, Rights and Business Affairs department at the BBC. Day-to-day my role involves liaising with suppliers and stakeholders, negotiating contractual terms and reviewing documentation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have learnt so much since I began my apprenticeship and I really enjoy the blend of practical experience and academic learning. I also have a great support network from those around me which has supported both my personal and professional development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I am consistently building on my existing skills as well as learning new skills for example, communication, problem solving and strategic thinking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The academic side follows a clear and structured sequence with resources that support my learning effectively. In addition, we have access to a study timeline which details our assignment dates and module content, this enables us to proactively look ahead and plan our time accordingly. My university practice tutor is very supportive, providing regular guidance and feedback, which enables me to make consistent progress throughout my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a high level of support, particularly from my manager. They provide regular guidance, feedback and opportunities to develop my skills in the workplace. I feel encouraged to ask questions and take on new challenges, which has helped me to meet my KSBs.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a strong level of support from my training provider. We have tripartite meetings every quarter and I can reach out to my practise tutor whenever I have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some of my modules link well to my day-to-day role and provide useful knowledge and skills I can apply in practise. However, there are also some modules that feel less relevant to my role, so the impact can vary depending on the subject area.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are numerous extracurricular activities to get involved in at work. We have a range of staff networks that employees can join, and there are opportunities to sign up to different events and initiatives throughout the year. For example, I had the opportunity to support at the BBC UNBOXD event in Birmingham, I had a great time and met so many amazing people!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The BBC offers a supportive working environment and a range of development opportunities that help you grow both professionally and personally. You also gain valuable industry experience alongside a recognised qualification.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
My main tips for applying at the BBC would be to be your authentic self throughout the recruitment process and make sure you research and understand the organisations values. Take time to reflect on how your own experiences align with our values. It's also important to showcase your enthusiasm and motivation for the role you are applying for.
