Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Using fabrication skills as well as CNC machinery to create components to help prototype vehicle testing, usually out of aluminium and steel.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It's a really good place to work but can become repetitive, I would like to be able to be more involved in what happens to the components once they leave the machine shop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Pretty much everything I now do in my day to day job has had to been learnt since I've joined the company, but now that I've got this knowledge I find myself using it outside of work as well.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I believe there is a structure to the apprenticeship, but it is constantly changing to become better however I don't think these changes are relayed to the apprentices very well. I've found it's almost delt with on a need to know basis and you'll only be told if it directly affects you at the moment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is lots of support, both in work skills and outside of work mental heath.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Similar to my answer about structure, I have found you only really find out what you are expected to complete when they need you to do it imminently, this doesn't really allow for forward planning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The practical workshops did give me an insite into what type of work my job would consist of and helped me transition better coming from secondary school.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in, through this groups I have made friends and been to events with them that no longer include JLR.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The amount of skills that you are able to learn is vast, the extra-curricular activity scheme is amazing, and because of the size of the company there is work that will be enjoyable for almost anyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Be enthusiastic, Someone who doesn't have as broad of a skills range but shows enthusiasm for learning and genuinely shows they love they job will stand out from someone who isn't really bothered.
