Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Began in a charging system validation engineer, carrying out charge tests and validating data. I then had the opportunity to go on placement in a different area of the business, working on creating CAD designs for our electrical harnesses.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Overall, I enjoy the programme. It is a great opportunity to develop your skills and qualify as an engineer. Generally, there are many opportunities in JLR and you will get out of the apprenticeship what you put in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new skills and developed existing skills during my time at JLR.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
With regards to placements, the organisation of the programme is limited. Placement opportunities are down to the manager's discretion and sometimes apprentices are unable to go on placements they are passionate about doing. The structure of our university blocks is very well put together. We have university blocks every 3 weeks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The early careers team and generally very supportive and offer help whenever an apprentice reaches out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Our training provider provides a good level of support and answer questions when approached.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I have definitely seen links between what I learn at university and in the workplace. Some apprentices definitely experience stronger links than others. For example, we had a MATLAB exam at university. For some apprentices, MATLAB is a huge part of their role at work but others may never use it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extracurricular activities available at JLR. There are sports events, socials, clubs and groups for all apprentices, graduates and undergraduates to join.
