Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role has varied depending on the placements I have done. It typically involves a daily stand-up with the rest of my team, meetings to discuss tasks and projects with stakeholders, and time to complete tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the programme so far. Everyone at JLR is incredibly supportive of apprentices, helping me learn and grow as a professional engineer. The university balance is also great and I feel equipped to do both.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed knowledge of various automotive, electrical, and mechanical engineering concepts, components, and processes. I have also learnt to use 3DExperience CAD and MATLAB, along side developing my Microsoft Office skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The work/university timetable is balanced and well structured to ensure we develop at work and have enough time to study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We have regular check in sessions with our apprentice leads, university tutors, and line managers to discuss progress, challenges, and updates.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regular Q&A support sessions to discuss exam and assignment queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Plenty of extra curricular events that I have attend such as weekly football sessions, summer parties, goat yoga, and online professional development webinars.

Why?
It is a great environment for the development of young engineers. I feel incredibly supported by both my workplace and university through regular catch-ups and structured timetables. My colleagues are always happy to answer questions or support my work, encouraging me to grow as a professional engineer.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Showcase your genuine passion for engineering and JLR. Highlight any projects you have done or engineering research that you have found interesting. This shows you are eager to learn and grow.
