Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
skills development is a core aspect of working at JLR, there are processes in place for continued skills development even after the apprenticeship has finished

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
structure is highly dependant on the team you are a part of, some teams have a long history of taking apprentices and have a really good structure around it. But others have little to no structure or it is their first time taking apprentices. There is a basic level of structure available from the early careers team so no one is left completely alone.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
support is given to anyone who asks for it, and their is a good catch fence for anyone who is struggling. but you are expected to be relatively independent fairly quickly, with similar onboarding to graduate and new higher.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
academic tutors are provided as well as easy access to all module professors through the university websites.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
through the first two years all pathways take the same course so the first modules are broad and do not necessarily apply to your role, but they are good in setting the groundwork for the third and fourth year modules that are much more specialised and relevant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
JLR provides easy access to extra-curricular activities through a VIVA engage page. these groups cover a wide range of topics and locations, and includes dedicated groups for early careers.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
a wide variety of types of work, very good facilities and support. enjoyable work environment.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
the company likes to shorten complex topics into one or two word slogans, e.g. the reimagine strategy, and house of brands. it is best to learn and understand what they mean.
