Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am responsible for seamless delivery of all stadium functions with a strong focus on catering and hospitality services. This includes managing food and beverage operations across both match day and non match day events, this includes managing sub contractors.
The role requires regular financial analysis of identifying efficiencies , control expenditure and maximise profitability without compromising service quality.
The role also consist of managing both full time and part time staff, which includes Personal Development Plans and HR matters.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I found the programme highly enjoyable as it provided a valuable blend of hands on experience and practical learning in a real working environment. it not only allowed me to develop my skills, but provided me with a safe enviroment to build confidence in area the were development was needed.
The programme provided the opportunity to work alongside other professionals that could offer great insight and support, making the learning environment such and engaging and rewarding place to be.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I would say that the top two areas that developed throughout the apprenticeship would be People Management and Managing Change. The opportunity to explore these areas and develop a broadened mind set has been extremely useful in the work place and made me a better manager.
The programme also brought new skills, such as Performance coaching that i have since gone on to further explore.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme in incredibly well structures and the organisation meant, plans could be put in place to ensure that by personal life was not effected in any way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I was fully supported by my employer which includes, covering hotel and travel costs to various multiple programme days. I was also fully supported in regards to being allowed time during working hours to complete any course work that was needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider was extremely supportive throughout, this included having regular catch ups and available should I have any questions and needed advise.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The insight into every area of the job role has not only developed the skills I already had, but strengthened area were I was previous less comfortable to the point that they are now some of strongest skills i have. This has resulted in me being a more well rounded individual which has reflected positively within my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are multiple activites that individuals can choose to be a part of, these include running clubs, away days, hiking trips, regular quiz nights and yoga classes. Charity Events such as 5K fun runs, 1000 mile relay and Endure 24, there is a place for everyone.

I have worked for Compass Group for over 16 years and the opportunity to progress my career and education is continuous and there are so many fields or career paths to choose from.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
My tips would be, no matter which sector you choose to be a part of, you will always be supported with a people first mentality. Do not be afraid to to fail, there will be people there to support you.
