Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day-to-day basis, I work in the Human Factors team, analysing the human interaction with our vehicles and ensuring that every customer, no matter their dimension, feels comfortable and within a space of modern luxury.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I had no knowledge whatsoever of the work content before I started the apprenticeship, so I have learnt everything on the job. It has been an incredible learning experience, and i am constantly being stretched towards new challenges.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There is some miscommunication between the business and the university, but on the whole it is very well thought through. We have degree apprentice tutors who help bridge the gap and help with any issues.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been through many years of apprentices now, so the support is well thought through and executed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Warwick University is very good at giving us the necessary support throughout the university periods.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My role is very niche compared to most other apprentices, and hasn't aligned with the university studies very well so far, but I really don't mind that.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many university clubs that we have the opportunity to join, though some require availability during the workday. Other options are the early careers network at JLR, which offers many clubs and socials across apprentices, undergraduates and graduates.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very supportive environment with some great perks. It is a place where you are respected as an apprentice and feel like you are making an impact to the customer. I have really enjoyed my time so far. I also think that due to the number of apprentices that join each year, a good level of social connection can be made with others, making it feel closer to the university experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Get some good work experience that you enjoyed and feel excited to share with the interviewer. As it is such a competitive role, you really have to try and stand out with your enthusiasm for the company and the role you are applying for.
