Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at North East Ambulance Service?
I have worked for the ambulance service for over 20 years, in various roles, and have always enjoyed my time. I derive a real sense of value from my role, which for me is an important motivating factor.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My role is to work with partners across the organisation and wider system, to ensure that Education Department activities support the strategic direction of the organisation, and that the workforce is properly equipped to meet the clinical expectations of the service user.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
As a service line lead I trust that my leadership is valued by my team. I undertake regular check ins with team members in order to ensure that they feel well supported and have clear direction and in order to obtain feedback to inform my leadership style.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Hygiene factors are met sufficiently, I feel that I earn enough and that additional benefits are fair.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I hope that my development within my current role will see me in a position where I am sufficiently capable to look for advancement in the future. My current role gives me the opportunity to work at a strategic level within the organisation and to be part of organisational change.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
The MSc and apprenticeship have allowed me to develop a broad range of leadership and management skills, the most crucial of which have been a much greater appreciation of the human element of the system and how to ensure that I recognise and meet the needs of the people that I lead.
