Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I lead on the social impact work at TSB focusing on our community work (volunteering, fundraising and charity relationships). This involves managing the risk and compliance of our programmes, measuring impacts and engaging with colleagues to get involved.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Coming from a social impact background, the programme is giving me a deeper understanding of environmental topics and helping me build a more rounded view of responsible business. I’m also learning from others across different industries and bringing those insights back to TSB.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The impact so far The apprenticeship has boosted my confidence, opened doors to new workstreams, and energised the way I approach my role. And positively, that energy is spreading across our Corporate Affairs team encouraging us to think more creatively about learning and development for everyone.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well organised and thoughtfully structured, with a strong balance between theory and practical application. Learning is planned in a way that fits alongside my role, making the workload manageable and relevant. The practical focus helps me apply what I learn straight away, and I’ve been able to share insights with colleagues across TSB, strengthening both my understanding and the wider team’s capability.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
With the support of my manager, I’m now 18 months in, and getting used to balancing monthly webinars and 7 hours of additional learning each week. It’s pushed me but also allowed me to reflect, and think differently about how we work, as well as to connect what I do day-to-day with broader sustainability goals. Today day with broader sustainability goals.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive strong and consistent support from my training provider while working towards my qualification. They are always approachable, responsive, and make time to explain things clearly. Feedback is constructive and timely, which helps me understand where I am doing well and where I can improve. Their guidance has built my confidence and helped me balance my learning with my day-to-day role, making the apprenticeship a positive and motivating experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification has significantly improved how I perform in my role by building my confidence, broadening my thinking, and strengthening the link between my day‑to‑day work and TSB’s wider sustainability goals. I’ve grown comfortable balancing structured learning alongside my role, using the programme to reflect, challenge how we work, and apply new ideas in practice. Coming from a social impact background, the apprenticeship has deepened my understanding of environmental topics and given me a more rounded view of responsible business. Learning with peers from different industries has also added real value, enabling me to bring fresh insights back to TSB and contribute more effectively across our Corporate Affairs team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes. There are a range of extra‑curricular opportunities available, including access to Inclusion Networks, mentoring programmes, and a variety of sports and social activities. There are also opportunities to take part in professional networking events, which support personal development, connection across the organisation, and a strong sense of belonging at work

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend TSB to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would absolutely recommend TSB to a friend. Having spent over 15 years at the bank across a wide range of roles from branch and vulnerable customer support, to my current position in the Responsible Business team. I’ve seen first‑hand how seriously TSB takes its purpose of Do What Matters. I’m particularly proud to have become TSB’s first Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprentice, which reflects the bank’s commitment to investing in its people, supporting long‑term careers, and encouraging continual learning and growth at every stage
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TSB?
My advice to anyone applying to TSB is to be yourself and lean into what matters to you. TSB values people who care about customers, communities, and doing the right thing, so showing your values is just as important as your experience.
Be open to learning and development at any stage of your career. I’ve seen first‑hand that TSB supports growth, whether you’re starting out or looking to build new skills later on. Finally, don’t be afraid to explore different roles; the variety of opportunities across the bank has been a big part of my long and rewarding career here.
