Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to oversee the running of all aspects of the contract delivered across 3 military sites. This includes providing services for cleaning, retail, catering and more. My job involves all aspects relating to the operation and delivery of the contracts at site including financial management, health and safety management, recruitment and HR, training and development of the teams, managing relationships with industry partners and stakeholders and more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Really enjoyed the apprenticeship, both from the work view, and being back in an education setting with release days at Aston University. Felt the balance of both worked really well with time allowed to work on modules when required. The support given from the company was great with regular check ins with the SLT to see where they could support.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills through completing the modules through Aston University. A lot of these new skills have been based around strategy and consultancy, which I found extremely interesting to learn and put into practice through the coursework element. My role doesn't allow me to fully apply these skills learnt currently, but will hopefully be given opportunity to use in the near future.

The structure of the programme worked really well, and clearly aligned when starting. This allowed me to plan my time effectively and keep up with the additional work load.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support from Compass was fantastic throughout, ensuring I was exposed to new and different subject areas when required to support with the course information and tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I had issues with the training provider with misguided information following completing my time with Aston University. When my apprenticeship coach changed, it had a much more positive impact on my progress through to end point assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learnt some lessons that are appropriate to apply to my current role, but feel it would be more beneficial in a more senior level role within the business, which is what I aspire to achieve moving forward.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Nothing i am aware of regarding in person events, but we do have some great networking groups based on interest, and held via teams calls.

Yes
Why?
A huge company that can provide great opportunities across so many different brands and divisions. Given my experience they fully support career and personal development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
Be yourself. Personality is more valuable than anything!
