Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involved learning first-hand how to manage current partner relations by leveraging data analytics, strategic communication skills and the account management cycle. I also got exposure to new partner acquisitions, project-based work and networking. Some examples of my responsibilities included: creating an innovative internal processes manual, working with partners' accounts to maximise their potential on EG's brand websites, attending learning and leadership series with other interns as well as team/ project meetings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given plenty of responsibility during my internship. I was allowed to explore various impactful project ideas for the organisation and then manage the project to successfully deliver the idea and innovate. I managed partner accounts and I was responsible for maximising their potential on company's brand websites. My work was a key part in defining organisational processes as well as making important strategic decisions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I learnt new skills like working with agile project management concepts and software, pitching and persuasive communication skills, prioritisation and strategic decision-making. I developed my commercial acumen and learnt about the travel tech industry, multi-tasking, emotional intelligence, teamwork, leadership and numerical skills. I had weekly coaching meetings with my manager in which I was able to map the skills I wanted to achieve during the internship and then focus on how to develop them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Expedia Group to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Expedia Group
During the interview process my advice is to put in the time to prepare by reading as much as you can about Expedia Group and the industry. The interview process can seem challenging but if you understand what the company stands for and show how your personality matches it, you will succeed! Actually, the interviewers were the ones that got me so excited about Expedia Group. I asked them about their own roles and what they enjoy the most about working at Expedia Group and the more I heard, the more I wanted to get the internship. Expedia Group is one of the biggest organisations in the travel tech industry and I think it is great to work for such a big, impactful and clearly-aligned company because you have numerous opportunities to explore WHO you are, WHAT you like and find out HOW you can achieve it. So go for it!
