Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Away from my apprenticeship cohort, I enjoy working within my team, as it is good to get industry experience and everyone has been fantastic with me since joining.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
My degree programme is okay. I don't particularly love it, but can get on with it and can complete it consistently.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I do constantly learn new things, whether big or small. It all adds up over time to help me build skills in many different areas.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme isn't as structured as it could be. Personally, I am a self starter, so the lack of structure on the course doesn't necessarily bother me. However, I know that for my peers, this could be a real issue that could prevent them from developing as much as they could.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I think because of the fact I am a self starter, I sometimes feel like I don't get support, because I am comfortable with getting on with things myself. I do, however, think that if I prompted someone in the team, I could get help with my apprenticeship work.
In my actual working team, I feel like I receive enough support and have regular catch ups where necessary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have tripartite meetings with the open university and my line manager quarterly. These can be helpful if I have any queries, however aside from that I just get on with things myself. I have been told often that I can get in touch if I ever need support, however I haven't really needed to thus far.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Sometimes I feel like it is more a ticking box exercise, however I do appreciate the fact that, in reality, working towards the skills my qualification needs does probably help me out. Whether or not I wouldn't be doing this anyway is a different story though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are events, but I don't think they really fit me personally. I could get involved if I wanted to though.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You receive industry-leading experience whilst also getting qualifications. It is such an advantage to have tangible experience whilst also learning at the same time, as it puts you in good stead.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Learn the BBC values, read up on their website and social media pages on what to expect and, if possible, reach out to BBC apprentices and ask for advice. I only speak for myself here, but I am always happy to help when contacted.
