Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
No two days are the same! One day I could be assisting a colleague take meeting minutes and then next I could be on site reviewing progress of the construction works completed to date. The next I could find myself forecasting and programme planning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the office culture; we all get on well, just like friends. I am not too keen on the university experience as I feel that some of the assignments are not part time friendly due to requiring access to internal software or software my employer doesn't have such as Revit.
I love that I am earning whilst learning and building up a bank of knowledge at my young age.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
100% - I have developed my interpersonal skills where I manage and maintain relationships with clients, contractors & colleagues. Further to this, I knew nothing about the profession when I first joined other than the basics you would expect, now I have developed into a team asset where I am assistance to multiple colleagues. At Monagahans, they are passionate to develop young staff.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I may be a one-off circumstance, but my university course is for Quantity Surveying, however my role 4 days a week in the company is within Project Management so finding the crossovers and balance between learning both roles is sometimes quite challenging. With regard to structure for the apprenticeship, a website called Maytas is used to record Off The Job Training Hours (OTJT Hours) this is well organised and is pretty easy to use to log these OTJT hours. However, I would've liked to have seen a tool, or something developed to allow apprentices to easily log/track examples against KSB criteria throughout their programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
In my role currently, I am working closely with my Apprenticeship workplace mentor where if ever I have a question I can ask them whether that relates to university work or the projects I am currently on. If they are not there, I can always ask another colleague or my line manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have never required any support up to now, but I am confident that I would receive some if ever I asked for it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
As said previously, my course is for a Quantity Surveyor role where I am practicing a Project Management Role so doesn't allow me to perform better in my role as such but does provide me with a breadth of knowledge for both roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Many opportunities crop up at Monaghan's, we have an internal app where latest news is posted and any opportunity for golf days, five a side football and also all the charity events we take part in are posted with all the details to get involved.
