Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at EY?
Very good overall. Balance between studies and work is good and separated conveniently, people are very welcoming and nice on the whole. Can feel at times like you've been thrown in the deep end but their are plenty of learning opportunities along the way.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I work in the financial services transfer pricing team in london. Clients are primarily financial services companies and partnerships seeking advice or support in relation to transfer pricing queries, documentation, cross-border business models and restructurings, and other more niche issues.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
Plenty of opportunity to get stuck in following the first few months of integration/college. With our prof qualification (icas), graduates are sent to study for the first 2-3 months of the job so you dont actually meet the team or get stuck into work until later.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I think the perks and benefits are great, but I expected the salary to be slightly higher.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
Very well. Learning in a big 4 environment is continuous and intensive at times, but it will all help. Learning how to interact with more senior individuals both internally and externally, learning project and client management skills, business skills (soft skills) etc. is ongoing.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
As mentioned before, learning is ongoing and continuous. Sometimes, especially as we are more junior, some of the tasks which are delegated to us may be admin heavy or repetitive, but this has improved over time.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Have not had any issues. Manager/counsellor and buddy are on hand for any queries and casual chats. Have not needed HR etc.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Usually fine, with some exceptions with late evenings etc, which can be expected in a job like this. No overtime pay makes things a little frustrating at times.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Don't have any issues with it. People are largely friendly and happy to take time out to teach/chat, hybrid working policy is very very flexible
How would you rate EY initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
EY appear to be really proactive with initiatives, im always seeing firm/team wide updates about different ongoing initiatives.
How would you rate EY CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5
Had not really come across much of this until recently, as I am now organising a team CSR day myself. We did something for red nose day last year but not much else.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The people, fast paced learning environment, the doors it can open, the network you can build, the flexibility of hybrid working.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Is very much in line with what I expected.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to EY?
- Take each stage of the application as it comes. Take them seriously (but don't overthink them) and dont throw away the application because I understand EY only allow one application per cycle.
- My assessment centre was fairly straight forward in terms of layout. Just make sure youre vocal enough and contribute, whilst letting others do the same (and encouraging them to do so if not).
- My interview was similarly relaxed compared to my expectations, but I did a lot of prep beforehand (had semi-structured answers for all typical interview Qs, some of which came up, and also had done research on the business area and team which had been assigned to me).
